DAY GROUP OUTLINE
Phoenix 10 Addiction Recovery Day Group
Duration: 10 weeks open group. Patients can join the group at their convenience
Suits: People who are recovering from addiction and are seeking on-going maintenance support
Overview: The addictions day patient group program is designed to support people who have made a decision to work towards an addiction free life. This group provides a safe and encouraging environment, which allows participants to learn new skills, problem solve challenges and increase understanding of their addiction. The program is skills based, integrating cognitive behavioural relapse prevention skills with mindfulness practices to increase each individual’s ability to cope with life drug/alcohol free. The focus of each session is to increase awareness of triggers and automatic reactions developing a greater sense of choice as to how to respond to situations without substance use. Patient commitment to the program is expected; nonattendance should be noted to the Group Coordinator prior to absence and will be assessed case by case.
Some of the topics covered during the addiction therapy group include:
- Building and Maintaining Urges
- Coping with Urges
- Problem Solving
- Lifestyle Balance
When: Monday evenings from 4:30pm-7:30pm or Tuesday 5:30-8:30pm
Suits: People who have graduated from the step down program.
Overview: This program is designed for people who have graduated from the Phoenix day patient program. It is a solution focused program that will provide patients with practical skills going forward. People who graduate are advised to continue on with this program for a more in depth understanding of their path of recovery beyond addiction. It is more about gaining an understanding about yourself and acquiring adaptive life skills that will serve in your recovery.
When: Friday afternoons from 1:00pm-4:00pm
Program Costs: This cost may vary depending on the level of private health insurance the participant has.
