The Hills Clinic offers inpatient and day programs for those patients who require anxiety treatment. An experienced mental health professional runs the treatment groups and reinforces the topics that are covered during our inpatient program. The day group program is extremely beneficial to patients as they apply new strategies to help them in their everyday lives. The program focuses on building skills for better mental health. It is a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) based treatment and is designed to follow on from the inpatient program. CBT is the most well researched form of therapy and shown to be very effective in the treatment of mood and anxiety. The program focuses on the “here and now” and teaches skills for thinking, feeling and acting in ways which promote better mental health.
Some of the topics covered during the mood and anxiety outpatient groups include:
- Balanced lifestyle
- Goal setting
- Problem solving
- Core Beliefs
- Health Thinking
- Dealing with relapse
The CBT program is a group based treatment for people over the age of 16 years. CBT focuses on active strategies with an emphasis on self-management while incorporating a strong cognitive behavioural approach. Mindfulness and one’s connection with values is also explored. Participants will work towards a personal vision of recovery and learn to live more effectively and experience quality relationships.
